Need Prayers...feeling discouraged
Would you all do Alyssa, Piper and their future forever family (prayerfully us) and pray for some much needed documents? We need 8 Child Abuse and Neglect state registries checked in order to complete our homestudy. We have received 6. All requests were sent over a month ago. We have heard absolutely nothing from Georgia. New York sent a response about 2 weeks ago but it totally contradicted itself, stating they needed more information AND the check was being processed. No one answers their published phone number or returns calls (both us and our agency have left messages), so I overnighted everything back to them with a cover letter asking for further clarification....still no response.
I've been extremely patient up until now. Now I'm worried. What if in 2 weeks NY replies that it's still not right? What if we are waiting on Georgia and they never received our initial request? ( I will be calling them Monday to see what I can find out, if anything).
Meanwhile, we are stuck! These last 2 documents are needed to complete our homestudy, which otherwise is done. Then our homestudy needs to be approved by DSS because it's a SC requirement. Once it is approved THEN we can submit our I800a to USCIS only to wait another 2-3 months for approval. It's AFTER this approval that we can submit our dossier to Bulgaria. The whole process is being held up because of these 2 background checks. And of course, I know there is nothing to be found.
I'm just feeling so discouraged. I thought we'd have them all by now. My heart is aching for our daughters but our hands are tied until we have these documents. Not a good feeling.
So will you guys PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray with me that they will both come on Monday? I keep praying each day and end up disappointed each time I go to the mailbox. Please pray our babies home!

Why do you need so many? Did you live in all those places? Over how many years? Is it because of the country the girls are in? Or something new? We never did this.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you can't just tell them to "Check on Line!" If you still know someone in those states, if they contacted their legislator, that could get it moving.
When we were adopting, there was a family in the UP (far from the Office of the Great Seal) who had contacted THEIR legislator, and one of his underlings was actually sitting there waiting, getting their apostiles for them!
For Hague countries, they wisely require Child Abuse and Neglect registry checks from all states you have lived in since you turning 18 for both parents. The part I don't understand is why isn't there a national database?! Seems like that would make much more sense.
