The Starfish

Story Original Story by: Loren Eisley

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.

Approaching the boy, he asked, "What are you doing?"

The youth replied, "Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them back,
they'll die."

"Son," the man said, "don't you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can't make a difference!"

After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said "I made a difference for that one."

What Does His Word Say?

James 1:27 – Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Proverbs 31:8,9 - Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.

Please be courteous and remember the thoughts and ideas of Serial Adopter are our original ideas. If you are interested in using any of these ideas in whole or in part, we ask that you please first obtain permission from Serial Adopter. Thank you for understanding.

Serial Adopter came up as a playful way to refer to one who adopts multiple times. Some people think we are crazy, but we KNOW we are blessed. Sharing the rest of our lives with the children God called to our family. We are ADVOCATES for children in need of forever families to love, cherish and accept them genuinely and completely FOREVER. We could not be more grateful for being called to grow our family through adoption.
